Temat: Application of machine learning to quantum noise classification and mitigation

Abstract

Quantum computers are significantly limited by the noise generated inside those devices. Alongside limited qubit numbers this is the main obstacle stopping them from becoming successful at solving real world challenges. One of the possible approaches of handling this problem is to apply machine learning algorithms on the output signals. Authors explored topics of noise classification and mitigation. As one of the sources, an innovative, proprietary quantum technologies laboratory training simulation environment has been used. This presentation will cover proposed noise classification scheme, explored neural network designs, used simulator, challenges of obtaining needed knowledge and opportunities for further research.

Paweł Miziołek is Computer Science student working on his master thesis exploring topic of quantum noise classification and mitigation.

Marcin Sadowski - member of the SONOVERO R&D team. During the project work, he conducted research on simulation and investigation of disturbances generated on an ion trap-based quantum computer, utilizing a quantum technologies laboratory training simulation environment.

Wawrzyniec Suleja - member of the SONOVERO R&D team. Quantum physicist and IT Engineer. Conducts work on defining and studying the factors influencing the fidelity of quantum computations.
