Temat: Is entanglement inevitable to process quantum information? On classical simulation of quantum protocols.
Abstract:
Quantum entanglement is often considered as a hallmark of quantum mechanics. As pairs of entangled Bell states appear in numerous known quantum protocols one faces the question, to what extend quantum entanglement is an inevitable resource necessary to process quantum information.
We show some quantum protocols can be realized even without entanglement, basing on the fact that the set of quantum states and the set of allowed operations are much larger than the corresponding sets known from the classical theory.
We discuss possibilities to simulate quantum algorithms with classical devices. In particular, we experimentally demonstrate the teleportation protocol making use of an electronic simulator based on "Quantum Simulation Logic".
