Zapraszamy na otwarte seminaria pt.: Policing Cybercrime and Securing Information Systems through Situational Crime Prevention dnia 29 stycznia 2018 (poniedziałek) o godzinie 14:40 w sali 2.41.

Prelegent: Jason Johnstone (British social scientist. Researcher (Abertay University)
and practitioner (information security advisor for Polish Platform for Homeland Security).

ABSTRACTS:

Policing Cybercrime: This presentation will outline a small-scale research project investigating various challenges of policing cybercrime from a global perspective. It will outline three major 'problems' of cybercrime: the 'knowledge problem', defined as a lack of awareness surrounding cybercrime; the 'legal problem', a lack of substantive and procedural laws that enable police to investigate cybercrime; and, the 'forensic problem', the lack of expertise, training, and equipment available to police to combat cybercrime.

Securing Information Systems through Situational Crime Prevention: This presentation will outline my research into information security practices in organisations and will look at how criminology (and social science in general) can help improve information security via the adoption of social scientific principles of human behaviour. There will also be a discussion of how cyber attacks take place both from a malicious hacker perspective and social engineering perspective, and ways to prevent them.
